Statement on the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe

The Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD) joins the nation in mourning the loss of Rep. Rodel Bactocabe and strongly condemns his killing. We call for a swift investigation and action to ensure that justice will be served. This incident is also a wake-up call; we must put an end to the culture of violence and impunity that haunt our nation.

Rep. Batocabe, was one of the staunch champions of population and development and reproductive health and rights in Congress. We will forever treasure his contribution not only to the organization but more importantly to progressive policymaking in the country.
