Presidential candidates on key issues on RH and the prevention of VAWG
We looked at the position and track record of presidential candidates on the following policy issues on reproductive health and the prevention of violence against women and girls.
Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313). The law penalizes all forms of sexual harassment in streets and public spaces as well as in online spaces.
Reproductive Health (RA 10354). The law guarantees and enables measures for the sexual and reproductive rights of women, men, young people and families through comprehensive and accessible reproductive, maternal, new born, child, and adolescent health care services, family planning, comprehensive sexuality education, and adequate funding.
Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention bill. The bill seeks to address adolescent pregnancy and its effects by institutionalizing prevention programs through provision of access to reproductive health services including family planning, comprehensive sexuality education, and social protection for adolescent parents and their children.
Prohibition of Child Marriage (RA 11596). The law provides equal protection for children by prohibiting the facilitation and solemnization of child marriage, as well as cohabitation of an adult with a child. The law also provides resources for culturally-sensitive programs to prevent child marriage.
