PLCPD and Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel host women’s forum in Malabon City
The Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD), in partnership with the Office of Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel, the organization’s Chair for the House of Representatives, joined Women’s Fair 2025 by organizing a women’s forum on March 20 at Barangay Longos. The event highlighted women’s vital role in shaping society.
PLCPD Deputy Executive Director Au Quilala emphasized the crucial role women play in society and highlighted the policies and laws in place to protect and promote women’s rights, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions are recognized.
Atty. Virginia Lacsa-Suarez, Chairperson of KAISA KA, was the keynote speaker and delivered a powerful message on women’s empowerment, stating that while women are often reduced, made invisible, diminished, and discriminated against, women should take pride in being women and challenge stereotypes because “women are natural born leaders.” Atty. Lacsa-Suarez also called for greater representation of women in governance.
In her inspirational message, Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel emphasized “Women are the architects of progress, when we uplift each other, we build a stronger, more equitable future for all. Let us continue breaking barriers and shaping policies that empower every woman to lead with courage and conviction.”
As women’s rights advocate and officer of PLCPD, Representative Lacson-Noel was one of the authors of landmark laws including Reproductive Health Law (Republic Act 10354) and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Law (Republic Act 11596).
