CRN calls for pro-health, pro-children tobacco control policies

The Child Rights Network, represented by its Convenor, PLCPD Executive Director Romeo Dongeto, participated in the webinar and launch of the Asian Tobacco Industry Index (TIII) 2023, organized by the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance and the Global Center for Good Governance in Tobacco Control on November 15, 2023. Dongeto highlighted the network’s experience in the advocacy for protecting children and youth in the regulation of electronic smoking devices in the Philippines and the fight against tobacco industry interference in legislation. The webinar called on governments in Asia to safeguard public health and align with the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Article 5.3, which mandates state parties to protect tobacco control policies from the vested interests of the tobacco industry.
