Advocates and campus journalists unite in fight against tobacco and vape disinformation
PLCPD and ExplainedPH joined forces to bolster their fight against tobacco and vape disinformation, positioning campus journalists at the forefront of this battle. The event, titled “Fact-checking Tobacco and Vape Disinformation: A Workshop and Knowledge Building Activity,” drew participation from over 30 attendees representing various student publications in senior high schools, colleges, and universities. Held on 27 January in Quezon City, the workshop gathered public health advocates and partners from the tobacco control network and campus journalists to talk about the harms of smoking and vaping as well as how to fight the disinformation and deception around tobacco products and electronic smoking devices. This collaborative effort served as a platform for knowledge exchange, fostering a collective commitment to safeguarding the truth in our campaign against tobacco and vape products.
